There’s no better way to design exceptional safaris than to experience them first-hand. Liesel and Sive recently embarked on an in-depth educational journey through Botswana – travelling across key safari regions to strengthen partnerships, evaluate logistics, and immerse themselves fully in the guest experience. Joining them was Christine, whose extensive experience and knowledge of Botswana provided valuable strategic insight and continuity for the trip. With multiple visits to the destination over the years, her perspective further enhanced the team’s educational.
Their adventure started in Maun, the gateway to the Delta, with an overnight stay at Cresta Riley’s. After a full day of lodge inspections and meetings, the evening concluded with a quiet glass of wine – strictly for “research purposes.” After all, every detail matters when crafting seamless journeys for our clients.
A highlight of the trip was evaluating Botswana’s aviation network. Flights with Mack Air, Helicopter Horizons and Moremi Air offered smooth transfers and breathtaking views over the shimmering channels of the Okavango Delta. From above, the Delta reveals its true scale – a mosaic of water, islands and wildlife corridors that few places on earth can rival.
– Mogogelo Camp – Warm hospitality and authentic bush comfort in a game-rich setting.
– Savute Safari Lodge – Set in the iconic Savute region, where elephant herds roam and predator sightings thrill.
– Xugana Island Lodge – A serene island escape focused on tranquil, water-based Delta experiences.
– 4 Rivers Camp – Contemporary elegance surrounded by floodplains teeming with wildlife.
– Lagoon Camp – Known for exceptional guiding, predator diversity and unforgettable wild dog sightings.
Educational journeys like this allow us to move beyond brochures and into lived experience. Seeing transfer times in real conditions, understanding the rhythm of each camp, and strengthening supplier relationships ensure we design itineraries with confidence and precision.
For Liesel and Sive, this knowledge is particularly valuable. Liesel specialises in crafting seamless Namibia and Botswana combinations, while Sive focuses on linking South Africa and Botswana into cohesive, well-paced journeys. Knowing exactly how each region connects – logistically and experientially – ensures their cross-country itineraries feel effortless for travellers.
On the ground in Maun, Jacqui Kasale, our FIT Consultant in Terra Nova’s newly opened office, adds another layer of strength with her local presence and operational expertise. Together, our team is exceptionally well-positioned to sell Botswana – whether as a stand-alone safari or as part of a carefully curated Southern African journey.
Christine and Britta will be attending ITB in Berlin from 3 – 5 March 2026 and would be delighted to connect and share more about our latest developments in Botswana.
