Rwanda

There are few countries as inspiring as Rwanda. The recovery they have had from the horrific genocide that brutalised the country in 1994 is truly remarkable. The transformation is nothing short of miraculous and tourism has been a key contributor to the economy.

Rwanda is best known for the gorilla trekking experiences it offers into the Virunga Volcanoes, the home of the rare mountain gorilla and an experience that is truly life changing. The Nyungwe Forest is a playground for many different primates and multitudes of different birds. The country is breathtakingly beautiful, lush and green and a hiker’s paradise. However the most special part of exploring Rwanda is the people you will meet. It really is the Land of a Thousand hills, and a million smiles.

The experiences we offer in Rwanda range from 3-night itineraries with the sole purpose of trekking to the gorillas, or a more extensive visit including also the Nyungwe Forest and Akagera National Park. All our itineraries are guided.

Ideal to combine with

A great stand-alone itinerary, but also ideal to combine with visits to Kenya and other East African countries. It’s the perfect ‘adventure extension’ for wildlife lovers

Climate

March – May : This is Rwanda’s rainy season, when the rain is heavy and persistent.

June – mid September : Dry season, and generally the best time to visit if you have the choice

October – November : A shorter rainy season and followed by a short dry season from December to February.

*During both of Rwanda's dry seasons, there is often light cloud cover. This helps to moderate the temperatures, but also occasionally brings light rain showers.
