Botswana

This is the land of iconic African landscapes – the Okavango Delta, the Kalahari Desert and the Chobe National park are all destinations that epitomize wild Africa. There are more elephants in Botswana than any other country, the big cats roam free, bird watching is phenomenal and the range of fauna and flora mind blowing. Even the flourishing rhinos who have been re-introduced to the delta area agree that Botswana is a blessed country.

Botswana ranks among Africa’s most exclusive destinations. Camps are small, and in the Delta, the majority are only accessed via small fixed wing aircrafts. From super luxurious lodges to more adventurous explorer camps, the country can be explored with a variety of budgets. Regardless of where you stay. All will agree that Botswana with its vast stretches of wilderness and majestic landscapes, along with the wildlife that inhabits it, is an extraordinary destination.

Ideal to combine with

The Victoria Falls or the desert of Namibia. Kazungula border (where you enter Kasane / Chobe area) is the place where four countries meet; Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana.

Climate

May–Aug Dry: this is the dry season. You will find wildlife concentrations around waterholes and generally fine weather. July and August are the most popular months and availability is limited, so booking in advance is essential.

Sep–Oct: Extremely hot temperatures can be expected, but wildlife watching is at its best as the animals come out in search of water.

Dec–Apr: This is the rainy season. Many of the tracks can be impassable, but tourist numbers are fewer and rates are lower.
